ELECTRON BEAM RADIATION |
FOR MANY SUPERFICIAL CANCERS |
Electron beam radiation is another type of external beam radiation, also delivered by a linear accelerator (see External Beam Radiation page). Electron beams differ from high energy photon beams in that they deliver most of the radiation to superficial tissues; ie they are less penetrating. This is useful when treating tumors in superficial locations in the body. Electron beam radiation is used in treating cancers of the breast, skin, head + neck, and others.
